Abstract
Weathering is due to movement of silica and calcite from parent stone as well as from various cement-coatings applied as preservatives in the past. Organic growths especially lichens are significant weathering agents. Differential settling is not a major cause for fracturing. Individual stone blocks are being cleaned using a substance of unreported composition. -- AATA
