In 1973, the Cleveland Museum of Art acquired from the Adolphe Stoclet Collection in Brussels the torso of a Krishna Govardhana figure excavated at Phnom Da, Cambodia. Seventeen other fragments had becorne separated from the torso, but were rediscovered by the CMA and shipped to the United States from Brussels. The article traces the history of these pieces and briefly describes how some pieces were determined to belong to the torso and the subsequent reassembly of the statue under the supervision of CMA Objects Conservator, Frederick Hollendonner. -- AATA
