Abstract
A stone mortar used in pulverizing glass beads is described. According to an informant, trade beads were too large so they were ground to a powder, mixed with water to shape in a bed of sand, which was then heated to fusion in a frying pan. Reference is made to a similar report in Lewis & Clark. -- AATA
