Good information management in wood conservation is more crucial than ever because of the experimental character of the treatments and the constantly evolving methodologies. An integrated computer system is described that 1. Serves the needs of the users, and 2. Accommodates the large volume of data to be treated. The system uses one record per artifact, each holding about 360 fields. Each phase of treatment, from excavation through the various stages of restoration to exhibition or storage is documented. The system is online, easily accessible, and was specifically designed for those unfamiliar with computers.
