Abstract
A history is provided of the technology of mosaic glass. It developed about 2000 years before Christ in Mesopotamia, spread to Egypt, around 300 B.C. And reached its maximum beauty during the Roman period, before being abandoned. Its revival during the Renaissance led to slight changes in production methods. These methods are described and illustrated with line drawings of equipment and tools, and photographs (colour and black/white) of glass items.
