Abstract
The microclimate of the Etruscan underground tombs studied here is conditioned by the thermal energy flux and water exchanges between tuffs and internal air. The water exchanged between the surfaces of the material is evaluated along with the specific humidity of the environment. For the conservation of underground tombs, the use of outside covers and screens is suggested in order to reduce the effects of sunlight and rainfall.
