Abstract
Considers the possible use of fungicides as a preventive measure during the restoration of works of art. The efficacy of 8 fungicides were tested on three types of textiles commonly used in restoration operations (cotton muslin, relining canvas and silk). The interaction between the fungicides and the textiles was evaluated through changes in the degree of reflectance, measured before and after artificial ageing, in the presence and absence of ultraviolet radiation. Conclusions are drawn on the possible use of these biocides in restoration work taking into consideration their known toxicity factors. Tables, references. -- ICCROM
