Turned wooden cups and bowls found at excavations are normally extensively deformed when their walls are thin. After preliminary bending tests by heating thin sheets of different types of wood in water vapor it was shown that deformed objects can be treated. After cleaning with Mucasol and a 3% solution of EDTA a bowl was placed in boiling water for half an hour. The wood could then be reshaped and glued with Isamet A 115, an isocyanate adhesive. Other objects were treated with boiling polyethylene glycol (PEG) 200. Wooden sheets were shaped over a wooden form, and UHU-coll express was used for gluing. A large cup was treated with tertiary butanol and PEG for reshaping.
