Abstract
A method for restoring badly deteriorated wooden artifacts is described. Instead of removing the damaged part and replacing it, synthetic resins can be applied to repair it. Deteriorated parts of two wood chests were repaired and infilled using a mixture of epoxy resin, hard wood dust, titanium dioxide, chalk and earth colours. Then after cleaning the timber was consolidated with another epoxy resin and the parts glued together. This method can be applied to painted or unpainted wooden objects. Photographs.
