Abstract
Without attention to post-treatment conservation, collections of marine artifacts, especially organic materials, are likely to deteriorate. General guidelines on the environmental conditions for the storage and display of artifacts are offered. The following are briefly discussed: light, relative humidity, temperature, atmospheric pollutants, insect and rodent control, growth of microorganisms, harmful chemicals released from shown cases, support materials and people control.
