Abstract
Discusses the conservation of wet organic marine artefacts. Describes criteria for treatment proposals and outlines the general approach to treatment (drying, choosing consolidants, removal of iron compounds long wet storage). Conservation treatments are detailed for leather and textiles and then in less detail for: rope and wadding; grass matting; bone, teeth, ivory; baleew, horn, quill, feather, claw, hoof and tortoise shell; amber. Cleaning drying, and preparation for storage and display are discussed.
