This bibliography was compiled in response to a rising concern for museum re-evaluation emphasizing accountability to public needs. These self-evaluations by museum professionals require methods which are naturalistic and responsive in their approach to staff and audience requirements and values. Information provided by this bibliography has been designed to develop new strategies for a more effective evaluation. lt is composed of four sections: Background & Rationale, Collection Strategies, Analysis Strategies, and Sample Studies and Reports. References are followed by comments on adaptation to the museum context.
