Published on the occasion of an exhibition, this catalog includes art historical, epigraphical, and technical studies on the 38 metal objects exhibited. A general section on techniques and materials and a glossary are included. Analyses mostly done by x-ray fluorescence. All of the copper-alloy objects are made from brass. Different compositions were used in objects made from sheet, cast objects, and spun objects. Islamic objects dating from the seventeenth to the eighteenth centuries A.D. are included, in brass, silver, gold, and steel. Watered steel (Damascus steel) is discussed, along with one steel dagger made for Jahangir from a meteorite that fell on April 10, 1621. Complete bibliography is included.
