One of the most universal problems shared by museums is the inadequacy of storage space. The Brooklyn Museum found a solution in its Paintings Study Gallery. The paintings are displayed on fort-four three-sided rotating pylons. Paintings of lesser importance and those too large to be accommodated on the pylons, are display on sliding walls in two bays on the east side of the gallery. Fifty-six of these floor-to-ceiling walls are arranged in four sections each of which contains fourteen panels.
