Abstract
The wind has been considered as an agent of weathering although this opinion is supported by nothing but the visual observation of some characteristic features in decayed stone. Some authors decidedly accept this thesis and some others timidly point to it as an eventuality. The lack of experimental data justifies this prudence; experiments will help to determine the role of wind as a weathering agent. This paper presents results of submitting a model tower to tests in a wind tunnel. The objective was to show the experimental method and to establish the background for different possible actions of wind. Concludes that wind is an effective power for promoting the decay of stone, at least as an agent for the detachment and removal of loose particles poorly attached to the stone.
