Abstract
Described is some of the process of restoration of the American whaling ship Charles W. Morgan at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut. The wooden sailing ship (1841) saw service until 1921, was on exhibit until 1935, severely damaged in the hurricane of 1938, came into Mystic in 1941 where she was encased in dry land in sand and gravel until she was refloated on December 6, 1973. Since that time, extensive restoration has been in progess under the direction of Donald Robinson. -- AATA
