Abstract
Reports an intensive study of the technique and history of enamel painting from the Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, Austria. The preparation of copper for enamelling and of the vitreous material is described. The development of a layer of corroded copper and of the tension between the layers is discussed. An assessment of the restoration and some further remarks about the conservation are presented.
