Abstract
The Celtic (Hallstatt, La Tene) settlement of Krautacker in NW Hungary yielded evidence of ceramic manufacture, including three updraught kilns. The ceramics at the site were all wheel-turned and stamp or stroke ornamented. The ceramics were analyzed along with local clays to find the mineral content and to derive the firing temperatures. Trace element analysis and optical emission spectroscopy were performed to reveal composition. The evidence from this site confirms it as an active pottery production center for local use, as well as for long-distance trade. -- AATA
