This paper will outline the fiber art technique of needle felting as adapted to compensated for loss in fulled wool textiles. A single barbed needle, used to entangle wool fibers and apply felted designs to fabrics and other substrates, can be employed as an infill technique for conservation. The fill is needle felted on to a secondary substrate, which can be physically or passively attached to the object or a mount. This poster explores the use of different types of wool, substrates, and methods of obtaining suitable surface and color compensation.
