Abstract
Around 2630 B.C. Egyptian building materials underwent a change from sun-dried brick to stone. The design of the sphinx and the pyramids, modeled on natural topographical prominences, has been important to the survival of the monuments. The sphinx is currently endangered from the rising water level due to irrigation from the Aswan Dam project. -- AATA
