Abstract
The various information storage media available today for archival storage have been the object of two studies, one commissioned by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and the other done by the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, entitled Report of the Smithsonian Institution Libraries Optical Disk Working Group. After an interview with a member of each of the two groups the author summarizes her findings and indicates that is difficult and expensive for institutions to keep up with technological advances. Some potential problems are listed, including quality of output and future availability of CDROM readers. -- AATA
