The experimental facilities and the research methodology applied in the studies on grain storability in nitrogen with various residual oxygen concentrations are described. A summary of the results, showing that nitrogen storage offers a large number of advantages over traditional storage techniques, are presented, and the limiting factors for the successful storage of different grains in completely and partially bio-inert atmospheres, especially in regard to moisture content, are described.
