The work of investigation during this first quarter has given hope to the researcher and the museum staff that new techniques are evolving in the restoring of water damaged papers. The use of the dielectric drier for quick thawing and possible complete drying looks most hopeful. Techniques for the handling of coated papers already shows promise. The use of solvents in mud removal also shows promise. Thus further work on these approaches will continue into the second quarter while at the same time it is hoped that additional new techniques can be developed.
