Abstract
Silicon dioxide films with high performance were coated on the stone at room temperature by the biomimetic synthesis technology in which the hydrolysis of Na2SiF6 was regulated by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) supra-molecules assemblies. The films were then analyzed using XRD and SEM. The surface of the tested stone was clean, translucent and well at resisting the acid and alkali. The synthesized films breathe freely, and possess excellent rigidity and capability of resisting high or low temperature, tightly combining with the substrate, and its water-absorption capacity is lowered. The research showed that the biomimetic silicon dioxide films could effectively conserve the historic stones.
