The application of dyeing techniques to textile conservation and restoration has been one of the basic requirements for textile conservators abroad although it has been rarely used in China. A brief introduction of the use of dyeing techniques in textile conservation and restoration is given in this article. Dyeing methods for backing, support materials, and sewing threads are introduced, and a detailed introduction of the dyeing techniques used in the workshop is given. This work focuses attention to the application of dyeing techniques to the conservation and restoration of textiles in China.
