The staff of Zhong-ying Street Historical Museum went to Tai Shan to collect three cannons in order to rearrange the basic display of A hundred years history of zhong-ying street . Along with an object in the museum’s original collection, a cannon excavated from Da Mei Sha, on the east coast of Shenzhen, the museum owns a total of four. These objects were carefully studied in order to preserve and protect them. The results of these studies suggested that all these cannons were made in Britain. The cannon excavated from Da Mei Sha has typical rust problems, and therefore a special conservation treatment was designed. The conservation procedures include machinery cleaning, washing with deionized water, drying with 75% ethanol and coating with 2% Paraloid B72. The treatment recovered the original look of the cannon, which has an intrinsically sturdy body, with a smooth surface and no casting lines. The conservation treatment has been shown to be effective and suitable. The cannon after treatment was displayed in the British Occupation section.
