The Roman mosaics were unearthed at two places -- Rudston and Brantingham in Yorkshire. The Brantingham pavement measured 36' x 26'. It was removed from its site by a skillful rolling up, using a bandage material and a coat of P.V.C. At the museum, it was unrolled face down, boxed in with timber to make a container, and an Araldite coat together with chopped glass fiber was applied; this was further backed up with 2 inches of vermiculite and iron reinforcing bars bonded with Araldite.
