This paper reports our studies on the reaction of p- chloromercuribenzoate with the sulfhydryl groups of native and denatured ovalbumin and egg white. Data are presented that support the conclusion the p-chloromercuribenzoate reacts with and forms a relatively stable compound with sulfhydryl groups of native ovalbumin under mild acidic conditions.
