The first part of the article, a discussion of the silver figurine from the art historical point of view, describes the figurine and ascribes it to the Proto-Elamite period of about 3000 B. C. On the basis of comparison with a group of small stone figurines and clay seal impressions. This is followed by a description of the techniques used in its manufacture, illustrated by radiographs and detailed photographs. The composition of the silver and of the solder was ascertained by thermal neutron activation analysis by E.V. Sayre and P. Meyers, and S. Alexander analyzed the corrosion products by X-ray diffraction. The results are given in tables.
