Abstract
A method of treatment for the preservation of wet ivories as they were uncovered during excavation at Nimrud, Iraq in 1958, by the infusion of polyvinyl acetate to strengthen their structure. Polyvinyl acetate was also used to reattach separated parts of an ivory. Orangewood manicure sticks, soft brushes and a small rubber syringe were used for removing the dirt from the ivories.
