Abstract
This handbook provides a brief overview of the types of disasters posing a potential threat to Smithsonian personnel. These emergency procedures are intended to assist you as an individual in understanding what to expect and what to do in the event of a disaster. The information in this booklet is provided as guidance in the event a disaster occurs at work. However, these same procedures can be applied to situations at home, traveling to and from work, etc. Should an emergency occur, evacuation of the facility/area may be necessary. Evacuation diagrams for the facility are displayed throughout staff work areas. You should study the diagrams and these procedures carefully.
