In 1885 a Celtic grave of a Paramount Archaeological value was discovered at Toarcla, in the Brasov county. It was published in the Dacia, 1945 volume by professor Kurt Horedt. The metallic items were greatly damaged, requiring urgent restoration. The iron pieces including the nail nr. 1, the curb bit and the sheave were electrolytically and chemically cleaned off in phosphoric acid. The conservation was done by phosphorising the items and then by nitro lacquer and silicon oil film covering. The chain with the pendant was initially cleaned off in phosphoric acid while the final touch was added with the help of a Complexone III solution. The pendant was impregnated with Araldit MY0757, Tge iron rings of the hub and the nail nr.2 were mechanically cleaned off. The iron parts were covered with a tanin film while the final conservation was done with Silvacrom acrylic lacquer and silicon oil. Having been manufactured out of two different metals (copper and iron) the pendant had to be taken apart and separately treated. This was done mechanically and chemically in a Complexone III solution for iron. The copper parts were cleaned off in a Complexone III solution for copper. The final conservation was achieved in a Benzotriazol (BTA) solution and with Silvacrom lacquer. The iron part was cleaned off in a phosphoric acid solution and given stability by nitro lacquer film covering. The missing parts and holes were filled in with fiber glass reinforced UHU PLUS 300. The two copper rings were electrolytically cleaned off and Silvacrom lacquer conserved. Thus after a thorough restoration, the items of Toarcla celtic tomb were finally returned to the museum in a condition which may help the specialists deduce better the provenience and destination of some of them.
