Abstract
The analysis of bone and teeth from archaeological excavations must take into account alterations from the surrounding soil: changes in pH-value, humidity, temperature, transport in solution and mechanical pressure as well as the activity of microorganisms. The decay of bones is connected with the transformation of hydroxy - apatite to acid calcium phosphate brushite, of which the pressure of crystallization contributes to the mechanical destruction of the bone. Photographs, references.
