Fragments of ancient roman ceramics (terra sigillata ware) were analysed to determine the main and trace elements, in order to study the particular influence of burial soil on the pattern of elements. The analytical techniques used were activation with high-energy Bremsstrahlung followed by spectroscopy of the high-energy gamma rays as well as of the x-ray emission and the low-energy gamma activity.
