Novo Industri, a Danish bioproducts company, is producing a fat dissolving enzyme as an additive to detergents, tradenamed Lipolase. This enzyme is effective against stains caused by body oils, cosmetics, and edible oils. The mold produced lipase functions at optimal biological activity under the high-pH conditions of commercial washing products. The gene that expresses this enzyme was transferred to an aspergillus mold for commercial production. -- AATA
