Abstract
A Coptic tapestry roundel in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts depicts an unusual variation of Nilotic scenes, including, in addition to flora and fauna, a winged bust. The construction, styles, and date of the tapestry are analyzed relative to similar work in textile, wood, and ceramics, placing the work in the 6th century. The enigmatic winged bust is an allegorical representation of a season. -- AATA
