Abstract
Soshun Biko is an early 19th century treatise documenting hand-held loop-manipulation braiding techniques used in the manufacture of armor. Specifications for tools, requirements for armor, silk processing, yarn preparation, and finishing techniques are described. A unique feature of the technique is the construction of one-to four-layer structures, worked simultaneously on four levels. -- AATA
