17th-and 18th-century chintz or painted cotton and velvet textiles from the Kachhawaha clan of Rajputs, members of the Mughal aristocracy whose palace was at Amber in India, are studied. The history of these textiles is determined by inventories maintained at the palace, inventory notations inscribed on the textile itself, and the type of design incorporated into the textile. -- AATA
