The techniques of Navajo rug weaving are examined through the work of Martha Yazzie, a Navajo weaver living in the Canyon de Chelly. Pattern design, yarn dyeing with plants, winding, twining, and binding the warp, setting up the loom, opening two sheds, installing edge bindings, picking and pounding, joining yarn ends, and finishing are detailed for a rug in the Burntwater pattern. -- AATA
