Describes a safe method of removing ink stamps dating from the final 100 years of parchment production, as well as from paper material, using the absorbing effect of Magnesii Tricilicas. Explains the chemical background of the aging of paper on the basis of the raw materials used. Part 1 deals with the history of paper fibers and glues, including the natural aging of cellulose, wood cellulose, and glues. The chemical processes involved are described and demonstrated.
