Abstract
The extract of Agave americana, Agave cantala, Pterocarpus marsupium, Terminalia, Lantana camara, and Vateria indica were studied for their antifeedant and repellent activity against grubs and adults of the furniture beetle, Sinoxylon sudanicum Lesne (Coleoptera : Bostrychidae). Acetone solutions of the extract were tested at different concentrations, i.e., 680, 340, 170, and 85 mug/ml. The extract of L. camara exhibited high antifeedant and repellent activity; however, P. marsupium and T. paniculata were found to be antifeedants and V. indica a repellent only. A. americana and A. catala exhibited neither antifeedant nor repellent activity against any stage of the insect.
