The aim of the present study was to determine the taxonomy of the different species of fungi that constitute the myco-community in a coastal museum environment. The dry-preserved museum objects like <i>Stenella longirostris</i> (dolphin), <i>Lepidochelys olivacea</i> (turtle), and <i>Istiophorus platypterus</i> (swordfish) were found to be infested with the species of fungi, <i>Curoularia geniculata Boediji</i>, <i>Mucor varians</i>, and <i>Scopulariopsis brumptii</i>. The host-specificity of these fungi was observed. The effectiveness of coating materials such as nonalcoholic clear varnish and black, air-drying insulating varnish was also studied.
