Abstract
Booklet describes the source and appearance of the stones used in selected public buildings and monuments in Washington, DC. Information is provided regarding the quarrying sites of the various stones as well as some background on the geology of the local stone. Working and durability characteristics are noted. A map is provided to identify sites where the various types of stone have been used. A list of sites with illustrations of monuments describes the stones been used at each location.
