Abstract
Silver enrichment on the surface of 3rd century A.D. Roman coins is demonstrated by x-ray spectral analysis. The deviation of the silver content from the surface to the core of the coin <i>v = (CE-CF)/CF (CE = Ag content determined by x-ray emission, CF = Ag content determined by x-ray fluorescence). Coins minted after about 193 A.D. showed increasing surface enrichment. -- AATA
