Abstract
The slow burn of cellulose nitrate based motion pictures is described. From 1888-1951 all 35 mm. film was made with a cellulose nitrate base, which is highly flammable and sometimes explosive. The Niver restoration printer, set up at Ohio State University to restore news reels of W.G. Harding, is described.
