Abstract
Tests were conducted to determine the feasibility of gamma radiation for insect control in dried fruits. Raisins, zante currants, prunes, and apricots were infested with indian-meal moths, Plodia interpunctella, or saw-toothed grain beetles, Oryzaephilus surinamensis, and then irradiated. The data obtained indicated a dose of 40 krad was effective in preventing insect development and feeding damage.
