Abstract
Fluorescence spectra due to nitrogen laser excitation were measured for silk cloths colored with some red and purple natural dyes. Each dye exhibited its own characteristic laser-induced fluorescence spectrum and the spectrum was observed even after the original color faded, although the peak wavelength of the spectrum shifted a little. The laser-induced fluorescence method for the identification of dyes on silk is superior to the reflection spectrum method. -- AATA
