Electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis was used to characterize and locate flameretardant polymers on the fabrics. The distribution of the polymers, formed frorn tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) prosphonium and nitrogenous compounds, depends on the method of application and on the particular monomers used in the formulation. -- AATA
