Abstract
Sulphur dioxide is oxidized at the air-marble interface at a high rate due to deposited catalyst dust and acid neutralization by calcium carbonate. Survey of atmospheric particulates collected from monument surfaces, low volume samplers and dust fall. Iron dust is a likely catalyst.
