Abstract
In 1978 the scientific and research laboratory of the State Enterprise for Monuments Conservation, Warsaw, first used thin layer chromatography to identify inorganic pigments. Details of the methods of distribution have been cited and briefly discussed as representative samples. The procedure is described. Particularly when a paint sample is composed of several pigments this method of identification is useful.
